The opens on two brothers lost in the woods, which they come to know as “The Unknown.” As they try to find their way back home, they encounter various people, mysteries, creatures, and monsters thoughout the wood and nearby village locations.
As the show initially came out as a halloween special, the weather and scenery of the unknown is decidedly that of autumn, ranging from the warm harvest season to the brink of winter.

“I’ve always enjoyed going to antique shops, and postcards were something affordable that I could flip through and actually purchase even when I was younger. So over time I started getting a better understanding of them, and it started becoming a bit of a game to find oddball ones.”

My Favorite Settings throughout the Show

The Manor
Probably the most elaborate location of the show. The architechture is more than enough reason for this so be a favorite, but Wirt pulling that architecture trivia out of his pocket to lead to the ultimate reveal of the episode is what makes this an iconic location of the show to me. And not to mention the horse.

The Inn
Perhaps the memorable aspect of this location is that of the many iconic characters that are revealed through the setting, and their strange attitudes regarding fitting each person into an archetype. The setting of an inn, oft used in RPGs to start people on their adventure, and the almost satirical determination of the customers in the inn, as well as Wirt’s improvized song make this one of my favorite locations
