The Sounds and Melodies of the Unknown

Music plays an integral role in over the garden wall: from improvised jingles, charming tunes, and its more haunting scores, the soundtrack of OTGW contributes to the altogether cute, haunting, and unforgettable atmosphere of the show. Most of my favorite songs come from Greg, such as the Adelaide song and Potatoes and Molasses. While I tend to prefer some of the sillier songs, I also like the song during the denouement of the last episode and well as the Frog’s song at the beginning and end of the series. I felt it wrapped the series up with a coherent tonal bow, leaving as mysteriously as it arrived.

Other Interesting Audio Content

As viewers of the show well know, at the end of the series Wirt gifts a cassette tape to Sara, his school crush. It’s a very sweet moment and wraps together Wirt maturing and taking responsibility not only for his little brother but over his own life. That being said, know Wirt is it the obvious assumption that whatever is on the mixtape is likely at least somewhat embarrassing. The audio company that did the music for the show did come out with the contents of the cassette tape, including some songs on the clarinet, and poetry readings voiced by the amazing Elijah Wood. The mixtape can be listed to below.
